Remove/install retaining lock for crankshaft/ring gear - AR03.30-P-5000GZB: Notes

	Remove/install
	Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases, even sever extremities	No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components.	AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
1	Remove bottom section of soundproofing	Only remove rear piece.	AR94.30-P-5300GZ
2	Remove bolts (1) on the transmission bell	Counterhold nuts (3) from the rear.
2	Remove bolts (1) on the transmission bell		*BA27.40-P-1008-01A
3	Remove cover (2) on "Starter opening on the left"	Vehicles with 4MATIC: Push the front axle transmission vent line (4) fitted on the bracket a little to the side.
	Checking
4	Check splines of ring gear for drive plate	Check the splines for wear and damage by rotating the engine at the ring gear of the clutch plate in direction of rotation of the engine. If necessary: ↓,

5	Replace drive plate.	Only if flywheel ring gear is damaged.	AR03.30-P-8001GZB
6	Insert retaining lock in opening	Push retaining lock into the opening and latch into ring gear. Turn the engine at the drive plate ring gear in the direction of rotation of the engine as required.
