Remove/install fuel pump - AR47.20-P-5710GZH (ML350, with Gas-tight fuel tank)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

1 Check fuel level The fuel tank must only be filled to a maximum of a half otherwise the fuel will finds its way into vehicle interior.
Drain fuel tank, if necessary: ↓
 
    Draining fuel tank AR47.10-P-4001GZ 
2 Open fuel filler flap and tank cap So that no vacuum in created the fuel tank when pumping out the fuel.  
3 Unfold rear bench seat and change cover    
4 Remove rear SAM control unit   AR54.21-P-1269GZ
5 Remove bracket for rear SAM control unit    
6 Remove fuel pump control unit (N118) Observe lower retaining lug.  
7 Disconnect and remove right cap on marked connecting point Warm up body sealer using a hot air gun.
Installation:  Replace cap.
 
    Sealant *BR00.45-Z-1003-01A 
8 Unscrew nuts (3a)    
9 Remove ring (3) and cover (4) Installation:  Replace gasket (4a).  
10 Release and disconnect fuel pump connector (M3x1)    
11 Release and detach fuel line (5) Press notch (01) in the direction of the arrow using a screwdriver.  
12 Open catches (6) in direction of the arrow    
13 Remove fuel pump (M3) from swirl pot (7) Catch escaping fuel using absorbent rags in order to avoid fouling the vehicle interior.
Allow fuel coming out of the fuel tank to drain off.
 
14 Install in the reverse order    
15 Inspect fuel system for leaks   AP47.00-P-4750TZV
