Drain/fill in coolant - AR20.00-P-1142GZ: Notes

MODIFICATION NOTES

26.1.06 Cooling system   *BF20.00-P-1001-02X 
  Drain    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

1 Unscrew cooling system cap at coolant expansion reservoir IMPORTANT Unscrew cooling system cap slowly and relieve excess pressure.  
2 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling Model 164 AR61.20-P-1105GZ

  Drain coolant from radiator     
3 Slide collector siphon hose onto fitting (2) at radiator IMPORTANT The fitting (2) is located at the bottom left of the radiator.  
4 Loosen siphon hose (1) at radiator and drain coolant. IMPORTANT Observe regulations for disposal of coolant.  
  Drain coolant at crankcase     
5 Disconnect ground cable for battery When draining coolant at right drain plug (4) on crankcase

6 Loosen left or right drain plug (3, 4) at crankcase until it can be turned manually    
7 Push drain hose on left or right drain plug (3, 4) onto crankcase    
8 Loosen left or right drain plug (3, 4) on crankcase further by hand and drain off coolant IMPORTANT Follow regulations for disposal of coolant.  
  Filling     
9.1 Tighten drain plug (1) at radiator and detach siphon hose from fitting (2) After coolant has been drained at radiator  
9.2 Detach drain hose and tighten crankcase drain plug at left and right (3, 4) After coolant has been drained at crankcase  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA20.00-P-1001-02B 
10 Pour in coolant and bleed cooling system IMPORTANT Reuse clean coolant. AR20.00-P-1142-04A

12 Attach ground lead to battery After tightening crankcase drain plug on right (4).

13 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read fault memory After disconnecting ground line on battery
IMPORTANT Stored faults which may be caused by disconnecting cables or by simulation during test operations, must be erased in the fault memory after completing the work.

14 Install lower engine compartment paneling Model 164 AR61.20-P-1105GZ

15 Screw cooling system cap onto coolant expansion reservoir IMPORTANT Unscrew cooling system cap slowly and relieve excess pressure.
