Detach/attach engine on front axle carrier - AR01.10-P-2510GZA (ML350, ML550, GL450, GL550)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, tailgates or sliding roof. Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Remove engine with front axle carrier   AR01.10-P-2500GZA 
2 Attach engine hoist to engine lifting eyes IMPORTANT Secure front axle carrier on portable lifting platform using tensioning strap!

3 Raise engine using hoisting gear IMPORTANT Only raise far enough for chain on engine hoist to be lightly tensioned.  
4 Unscrew bolts (1) of engine mounts (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 164 *BA22.10-P-1001-03G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 251 *BA22.10-P-1001-03F 
5 Remove banjo bolt (3) and remove high pressure line (4) on power steering pump (5) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace gaskets.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1008-01H 
6 Detach bracket (6) for oil lines on power steering to oil pan (7) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1002-01H 
7 Mark propeller shaft front axle differential (8) relative to propeller shaft flange (8a) Vehicles with 4MATIC  
8 Remove propeller shaft front axle differential (8) on transfer case (9) Vehicles with 4MATIC  
    Model 164 AR41.10-P-0070GZ
    Model 251 AR41.10-P-0070RT
9 Detach vent line (10) for front axle gear on vent valve (11) Vehicles with 4MATIC  
10 Lift engine and transmission out of front axle carrier IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that the engine mount (2) is seated correctly in the catches on the front axle carrier.  
11 Install in the reverse order
