REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
1 Activate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand) IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid -car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

3 Remove bottom section of dashboard (1) on driver's side IMPORTANT Do not detach electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) from the instrument panel lower section on the driver-side (1). AR68.10-P-1505GM
4 Remove knee bolster Only on model 463.246/249 as of end no. 141688 and model 463.271 AR68.10-P-3520G
5 Remove bolt (3)    
6 Remove light switch module (S1) IMPORTANT Press together spring clips (2) in the arrow direction and pull out light switch module (S1).  
    MPECIAL TOOL Fig 2
7 Disconnect electrical connector on the light switch module (S1)    
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Carry out function check of light switch module (S1)    
10 Deactivate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid -car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

11 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT Stored faults which may be caused by removed cables or by a simulation, must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
12 Perform basic programming   AR00.19-P-0200P
