REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100T
2 Drain oil from rear axle differential (1)   AR35.31-P-0520-06I
    Cleaning spray, Loctite 7063 (150ml) *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
    Sealant, Omnifit 100H (50 g) *BR00.45-Z-1061-01A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA35.31-P-1003-02A 
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Oil filler/drain screw on rear axle differential modified   BT35.31-P-0015-01A
3 Remove rear axle differential (1) NOTES While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surface of all aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced.  
Model 211.2 with Airmatic (semi-active air suspension), code 489, and model 211.0 except model 211.076 up to 31.8.03 AR35.31-P-0520T
Model 211.6 and model 211.2 except AIRmatic AR35.31-P-0520TB
Model 211.076 up to 31.8.03 AR35.31-P-0520TA
4 Remove bolts (3) of end cover (2) and remove end cover (2) IMPORTANT Loosen end cover using screwdriver or assembly lever.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA35.31-P-1001-02A 
5 Clean sealing surfaces on rear axle differential (1) and on end cover (2) Cleaner from package *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
6 Apply sealant to sealing surface on end cover (2) Loctite 5970 sealant *BR00.45-Z-1013-01A

7 Install in the reverse order    
8 Check oil level in rear axle center assembly (1) and correct if necessary   AR35.31-P-0520-03I
