  1. Carefully clean the ring gear bore as well as the ring gear seat on the differential case.
  2. Heat ring gear (47a) to installation temperature using heating plate (080). Check temperature constantly using SPECIAL TOOL remote thermometer (070).

  3. Using SPECIAL TOOL assembly mandrel (046), clamp differential case in vise.
  4. Put on suitable heat protection gloves, mount ring gear (47a) on the differential case and apply some light hammer blows (rubber-headed hammer) if necessary.

    IMPORTANT Pay attention to any markings (arrow) applied to the ring gear (47a) and differential case.

  5. Tighten ribbed retaining bolts (13a) for securing the ring gear (47a) evenly and in a cross pattern.

IMPORTANT Safety bolts with ribs (13a) must always be replaced after being used once.
