Replace supporting joint - AR33.20-P-0440TX

MODEL 211 (except 211.08/09/28/29) MODEL 219.3 

MODEL 230 except CODE (P99) "AMG Black Series" special model

21.3.06 Repair method has been revised Detach torque strut, omitted  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
NOTES When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected    
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components when vehicle is in a ready-to-drive condition.    
1 Remove front wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels Model 211, 230 AP40.10-P-4050Z

2.1 Remove center and front sections of lower engine compartment paneling Vehicles with gasoline engine

2.2 Remove center and front portion of bottom section of soundproofing Vehicles with diesel engine

3 Remove left front rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front rpm sensor (L6/2) from steering knuckle (5) and hang up to one side IMPORTANT To do this, unscrew bolt (6a) and unclip electrical feed cables from retaining clips.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Model 211: Pay attention to correct installation position, the chafe protection (5a) must be screwed to the front rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2) as shown. The chafe protection (5a) must not be mounted between the rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2) and steering knuckle (5).

4 Remove linkage of level sensor on upper transverse control arm (8a) Vehicles with Active Body Control (ABC) code 487 or Airmatic (semi-active air suspension) code 489

5 Support steering knuckle (5) on tie rod joint (10a) using transmission jack    
6 Press spring control arm (17) out of steering knuckle (5) Model 211, 230 AR33.15-P-0170-01R

7 Press supporting joint (7) out of steering knuckle (5) INSTALLATION NOTES When pressing the supporting ball joint (7) into the steering knuckle (5) the procedures for the fixed brake caliper and floating brake caliper should be observed in order to avoid damaging the brake hose. AR33.20-P-0440-01TX

8 Install in the reverse order
