Remove/install front shock absorber - AR32.25-P-0105TX

MODEL 219.3 except CODE (489) Aromatic (semi-active air suspension)

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by pinching or crushing  when working on springs or spring bodies that are under load Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary.
Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection).
Wear protective gloves.

1 Remove front suspension strut (7)   AR32.25-P-1017TX 
INSTALLATION IMPORTANTASSEMBLING Disassemble/assemble     
2 SPECIAL TOOL Clamp the tensioning device (01) in the vise SPECIAL TOOL and SPECIAL TOOL insert the clamping plate (02a) and SPECIAL TOOL clamping plate (02b) SPECIAL TOOL Figure

3 Install suspension strut (7) in spring compressor (01) IMPORTANT Insert suspension strut (7) so that as many windings as possible on the spring (4) are tensioned.  
4 Clamp the spring (4) until the upper spring cup (5b) is relieved of load    
5 Remove cap (5d)    
6 Unscrew mounting nut (5c) and remove shock absorber (2) IMPORTANT Counterhold the piston rod (2a) using the socket.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1001-01F

7 Remove bellows (6a) and stop damper (6b)    
8 Remove lower spring cup (3e), contact rubber (3d) and support washer (3c)    
9 SPECIAL TOOL Unclamp tensioning device (01) and remove spring (4) with upper spring cup (5b) and spring seat (5a)    
INSPECT Checking     
10 Inspect shock absorber (2) INSPECT Check shock absorber (2) for leaks. A thin film of oil on the shock absorber (2) is acceptable. Replace shock absorber (2) if necessary: ↓ AR32.25-P-0121TX 
Mount support ring (3a) in correct position on new shock absorber (2). AR32.25-P-1018-01TX
COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WH58.30-Z-1006-12A 
11 Check bellows (6a), stop damper (6b), spring seat (5a), support washer (3c) and contact rubber (3d) for wear IMPORTANT Replace any components with oil contamination, cracks or deformation.  
12 Assemble in the reverse order    
INSTALLING Install     
13 Install front suspension strut (7)   AR32.25-P-1017TX 
14 Check headlamp setting and correct if necessary After installing new parts.  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Check and correct headlamp adjustment   AP82.10-P-8260TX
