Remove/install overhead control panel control unit - AR82.20-P-1000TX

MODIFICATION NOTES

17.10.05 Disconnect ground line of battery, removed Step 2  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1.1 Transfer basic data from overhead control panel control unit (N70) to STAR DIAGNOSIS When installing new overhead control panel control unit (N70).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Transfer buffered basic data to new overhead control panel control unit (N70), and for code (414) Tilting/sliding roof, normalize the anti-pinch protection.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A

2.1 Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit On vehicles without code (889)
Keyless Go
 
2.2 Switch off ignition and place transmitter key out of transmission range of vehicle On vehicles with code (889)

3 Use long wedge to pry off rain/light sensor covering (1) downward and remove SPECIAL TOOL Figure
4 Use long wedge to unclip mirror base cover (2) from overhead control panel control unit (N70) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
5 Release overhead control panel control unit (N70) at front by pressing push-button (3)    
6 Use mounting wedge to unclip overhead control panel control unit (N70) at retaining springs (4) from headliner NOTES Unclip carefully. Risk of damaging headliner.

7 Remove overhead control panel control unit (N70) far enough from headliner until the electrical connectors are accessible on the rear of the overhead control panel control unit (N70)    
8 Detach electrical connectors from overhead control panel control unit (N70) and remove overhead control panel control unit (N70) IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors is dependent on the vehicle equipment.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that electric wiring harness is routed properly.
 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10.1 Normalize tilting/sliding roof IMPORTANT For vehicles with code (414) Tilting/sliding roof  
11 Read fault memory, erase if necessary    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
