Disassemble/assemble suspension strut - AR32.25-P-1018CW: Notes

REMOVING Removing    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by pinching or crushing  when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary.
Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection).
Wear protective gloves.

1 Remove suspension strut (40)   AR32.25-P-1017CW 
  Disassembling/assembling     
2 Clamp tensioning device (01) in vise, insert clamping plates and tension front spring (1)   AR32.20-P-0200-05CW

3 Unscrew nut (2) from piston rod (3)   *BA32.25-P-1004-04M 
4 Remove shock absorber (4) from tensioning device (01)    
5 Remove dust boot (4a), stop buffer (4b), cap (4c) and rubber insert (4d) If replacing the damper (4).  
    IMPORTANT Only carry out operation steps 6 to 11 when replacing the front spring (1)  
6 Release front spring (1)

7 Remove front spring (1) Installation:  Observe installation position of front spring (1). The front spring (1) must be installed with the flat side of the coil towards the spring cup (5).  
8 Remove the spring cup (5) from the front spring (1)    
9 Using a suitable tool pry rubber ring (6) off the thrust bearing (7) When replacing the rubber ring (6).  
10 Using a suitable tool pry thrust bearing (7) off the spring cup (5)
 
When replacing the thrust bearing (7).  
11 Check shock absorber (4) A light oil film on the piston rod (3) is acceptable. AR32.25-P-0121CW 
    Dispose of shock absorber (4) in the event of more severe leakage: OS32.25-P-0121-01GC 
12 Assemble in the reverse order    
INSTALLING Installing     
13 Install suspension strut (40)   AR32.25-P-1017CW 
14 Perform wheel alignment check   AR40.20-P-0200CW
