Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The circuit 61 status or the "PT_Rdy" signal is sent by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) over the chassis CAN (CAN E). The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the circuit 15 status over the chassis CAN.

Washer nozzle/washer nozzle hose heater, general

The washer nozzle heater and washer nozzle hose heater prevent the washer fluid from freezing in the washer nozzles and in the washer nozzle hose.

Function sequence for washer nozzle/washer nozzle hose heater

The outside temperature is measured by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) through the outside temperature sensor (B14) and shown on the instrument cluster (A1).

If the front SAM control unit receives the displayed outside temperature of T < 5 °C from the instrument cluster, then the spray nozzle heater (R2/1) and spray nozzle hose heater (R2/11) are switched on by the front SAM control unit.

If the outside temperature shown on the instrument cluster rises to T > 8 °C, the spray nozzle heater and spray nozzle hose heater are switched off by the front SAM control unit.

IMPORTANT When the outside temperature value sent by the instrument cluster malfunctions, the front SAM control unit refers to its own temperature value.
