Wiper start suppression function - GF82.30-P-3008CE

MODEL 204.0 /2 as of model year 2009 /YoM 08

MODEL 204.3

MODEL 204.9

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) transmits the circuit 15R status to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) over the interior CAN (CAN B).

Wiper start suppression, general

The wiper startup suppression is intended to prevent the driver or front passenger from being sprayed with water from the windshield when getting in or out as the result of an initiated wipe operation.

The windshield wiper remains in the park position in spite of the wiping request by the intermittent or rain sensor operation (with code (345) Rain sensor).

The wiper start suppression function is comprised of the following subfunctions:

Additional function requirements for activating wiper start suppression

Function sequence for activating wiper start suppression

If a door is opened while wiping, the front SAM control unit interrupts the actuation of the wiper motor (M6/1) via the wiper/ inside rearview mirror LIN (LIN 2).

The instrument cluster (A1) transmits the vehicle speed information to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The steering column tube module control unit (N80) directly reads in the position of the combination switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN (CAN E).

Opening the left front door is recognized by the status of the left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1) which is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1).

Opening the right front door is recognized by the status of the right front door rotary tumbler switch (A85/1s1) which is read in by the right front door control unit (N69/2).

The rain/light sensor data is read by the front SAM control unit via the wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN.

IMPORTANT On model 204.0/2 with code (414) Glass electric tilting/sliding roof, this data is routed through the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

The front SAM control unit reads in all relevant information, evaluates it and interrupts actuation of the wiper motor.

An already started wiping procedure is not interrupted immediately. The wiper continues to move to the park position.

Function sequence for deactivating wiper start suppression

Re-actuation of the wiper motor takes place once the wiper startup suppression has been activated by one of the following events:

IMPORTANT If no valid selector lever positions are available with circuit 15R, "N" will be sent constantly. The selector lever position is only available as of circuit 15 On. Wiper startup suppression is not canceled by the selector lever position with circuit 15R.

The steering column tube module control unit directly reads in the position of the combination switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN.

The electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) provides the status for the selector lever position fro the drive CAN (CAN C). The CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) relays it to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN.

The "Clutch actuated" status is sensed by the clutch pedal switch (S40/3). The CDI control unit or ME-SFI control unit reads in the status of the clutch pedal switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the drive CAN.
