Manual interior lights control, function - GF82.20-P-2000CE
MODEL 204 as of model year 2009 /YoM 08
Without code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof
With code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding sunroof
Manual interior lights control in general
The manual interior lights control permits the interior illumination, reading illumination, vanity mirror illumination as well as the glove compartment illumination to be switched on and off by operating the relevant switch.
A distinction is made between the following variants:
- Component actuation via the non-networked overhead control panel electronics (without code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof)
- Component actuation via the networked overhead control panel control unit (with code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof)
The voltage supply for the electronic overhead control panel is implemented by the front SAM control unit. When the switch is operated, the voltage is switched through to the relevant component and the component is switched on or off.
The overhead control panel control unit is an interior CAN user. This reads in the status of the operated switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
The front SAM control unit receives the relevant status and transmits the switch-on request via the interior CAN back to the overhead control panel control unit, which then actuates the requested lighting function.
The manual interior lights control feature consists of the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for interior illumination
- Function sequence for reading illumination
- Function sequence for vanity mirror illumination
- Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
Function sequence for interior illumination
Without code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof:
The following interior illumination components can be switched on or off manually by operating the switches that are located on the housing of the overhead control panel electronics:
- Left front interior lamp and
right front interior lamp over the front dome lamp switch
- Rear interior lamp via the rear dome lamp switch
For code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof:
The following interior illumination components can be switched on or off manually by operating the switches that are located on the housing of the overhead control panel control unit:
- Left front interior lamp and
right front interior lamp over the front dome lamp switch
- Rear interior lamp via the rear dome lamp switch
Function sequence for reading lamps
The reading lamps illuminate a defined area in front of the user, without having a distracting dazzling effect.
The following reading lamp components can be switched on or off manually by operating the switches:
- Left reading lamp over the left front reading lamp switch (with overhead control panel electronics)
- Right reading lamp over the right front reading lamp switch (with overhead control panel electronics)
or
- Left reading lamp over the left front reading lamp switch (with overhead control panel control unit)
- Right reading lamp over the right front reading lamp switch (with overhead control panel control unit)
- Left rear reading lamp over the left rear reading lamp switch (with model 204 0/2 with code (954) Avantgarde or code (955) Elegance or model 204.9 with code (876) Interior lights package)
- Right rear reading lamp over the right rear reading lamp switch (with model 204 0/2 with code (954) Avantgarde or code (955) Elegance or model 204.9 with code (876) Interior lights package)
Function sequence for vanity mirror illumination
The following vanity mirror illumination components can be switched on or off manually by opening or closing the relevant mirror cover:
- Left sun visor mirror lamp via the left front mirror lamp switch
- Right sun visor mirror lamp via the right front mirror lamp switch
The power supply to the mirror lamp switch is interrupted under the following conditions:
- Mirror cover folded back
- Vehicle locked using transmitter key (A8/1) with all doors closed
- Vacating the vehicle (with code (889) Keyless-Go)
- Expiry of t = 30 minutes after circuit 15 OFF
Additional function requirements for glove compartment illumination
- Circuit 15R ON
The circuit 15 status is sent by the electronic ignition lock control unit to the interior CAN.
Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
The glove compartment lamp switch is supplied with power through the front SAM control unit.
The voltage is switched through to the glove compartment lamp when the glove compartment lid is opened.
