MODEL 204.3 with CODE (600) Headlamp cleaning system

MODEL 204.9 with CODE (600) Headlamp cleaning system

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The low beams can be switched on by the auto on/off headlamps function, the daytime running lights function or manually. The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) generates the "low beams ON" status corresponding to the pending request. The status of circuit 61 or the "PT_Rdy" signal is sent by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) via chassis CAN (CAN E) to the front SAM control unit.

Headlamp cleaning system, general

The headlamp cleaning system cleans the cover plates of the left front lamp unit (E1) and the right front lamp unit (E2) with a high-pressure water jet.

Dirt on the cover plates is thus removed.

Function sequence for headlamp cleaning system

If the low beams are switched on and the windshield washer system is activated for the tenth time, the cover plates of the front lamp units are cleaned by the headlamp cleaning system.

The steering column tube module control unit (N80) reads in the position of the combination switch (S4) directly and sends this via chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit, which then actuates the headlamp cleaning system pump (M5/2).

The telescopic nozzles are extended and the washer fluid cleans the cover plates of the front lamp units.

Following another ten wash requests, the headlamp cleaning system pump is actuated again.

The number of wash requests is recorded by a counter in the front SAM control unit.

An automatic counter reset occurs when the ten wash requests have been reached or manually by switching off circuit 15.

The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN (CAN B).
