		The area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly before opening the hydraulic system. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system
1	Deactivate easy entry/exit function	Vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275	AR54.30-P-1000-02ESX
2	Turn steering wheel to central position (front wheels in straight ahead position) and secure with the retaining device	Do not turn the steering wheel with a removed steering coupling (6). Otherwise the clock spring contacts may be destroyed.

9	Unscrew steering coupling (6) from lower steering shaft; to do so, remove bolt (4) from locking plate (5)	The locking plate (5) is not available as a replacement part. Installation:  Insert a new self-locking nut into the existing locking plate (5).

10	Pull lower steering shaft upward out of steering coupling (6)	Do not use force (hammer blows, excessive leverage). The lower steering spindle may be damaged through laterally- acting forces.
		Installation:  Rotate rack-and-pinion steering (10) to the center position.	AR46.20-P-0600-01SX
11	Disconnect electrical connector from solenoid valve (Y10)
12	Detach clamp (12) from rack-and-pinion steering (10)
13	Detach clamping plate (9) from rack-and- pinion steering (10) and pull out oil lines (13, 14)		*BA46.20-P-1003-01M

14	Support rack-and-pinion steering (10) using transmission platform and transmission jack	Transmission jack Transmission platform for passenger cars and commercial vehicles
15	Detach rack-and-pinion steering (10) from front axle carrier (3), to do so remove bolts (10a, 10b)	Installation:  Replace bolts and nuts.

17	Remove rack-and-pinion steering (10)
18	Install in the reverse order
19	Fill power steering pump and bleed		AR46.30-P-0010SX
20	Check front axle toe and adjust if necessary	After installing new parts.	AR40.20-P-0200SX
