  Draining    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained. AS83.00-Z-0001-01A

NOTES Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work   AH83.30-N-0005-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on handling R134a refrigerant   AH83.30-N-0003-01A
    IMPORTANT When operating the charging equipment, observe the operator's manual from the manufacturer.  
1.1 Open the cover (1) Model 221  
1.2 Remove radiator grille and cover over high-pressure line (3) Model 216 up to model year 2011, Model 221 AR88.20-P-2000SX
    Model 216 as of model year 2011 AR88.40-P-4001SC
    SPECIAL TOOL Fig 2
2 Connect air conditioning extractor, recycling and filling unit for refrigerant R134a Air conditioner service unit  
3 Suction off refrigerant IMPORTANT Note down suctioned off compressor oil quantity.  
  Evacuate     
4 Replace fluid reservoir Only if refrigerant circuit has been opened. AR83.30-P-6520SX 
5 Clean refrigerant and evacuate air conditioning system Air conditioner service unit  
  Fill     
6 Replace the quantity of compressor oil noted when evacuating the air conditioning system with new compressor oil and route back to the refrigerant circuit NOTES If the wrong quantity of compressor oil is refilled then the refrigerant compressor may be damaged.
IMPORTANT Additional oil filling capacities after replacement of refrigerant circuit components:

8 Perform pressure test on AC system    
9 Disconnect air conditioning evacuation, recycling and charging unit for refrigerant R134a    
INSPECT Check     
10 Check air conditioning system for leakage   AR83.30-P-1761UV 
11.1 Close cover (1) Model 221  
11.2 Install radiator grille and cover over high-pressure line (3) Model 216
