Remove and install COMAND operating, display and controller unit - AR82.85-P-1000T

MODEL 211.0/2/6 with CODE (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer with CODE (526) COMAND (without navigation) with CODE (527) COMAND APS (with navigation) with CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Transfer basic data of COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) to STAR DIAGNOSIS When replacing the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Transfer basic data from STAR DIAGNOSIS to the new COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2.1 Remove center stowage compartment and place to one side with electrical lines still connected Vehicles up to 1.6.08

2.2 Remove holder with CD changer and place to one side with electrical lines still connected Vehicles up to 1.6.08

2.3 Remove upper control panel control unit holder and place to one side with electrical lines still connected Vehicles as of 2.6.08

3 Unscrew bolts (1) counterclockwise as far as to the stop    
4 Pull COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) out of the center console until the fiber optic cable connector and the electrical connectors at the rear of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) are accessible    
5 Disconnect fiber optic cable connector and electrical connectors at the rear of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and remove COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) NOTES To avoid damaging the fiber optic cable, do not kink fiber optic cable, route over sharp edges or bend in radii smaller than 25 mm.  
6 Cover fiber optic cable   AR82.95-P-0005-01A 
7 Install in the reverse order
