Remove/install fuse and relay box in engine compartment, left front - AR54.15-P-1257T

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
1 Remove and install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box, left front.   AR54.21-P-1260T 
2 Remove electronic stability program control unit (ESP)   AR42.45-P-0820T
3.1 Remove injection system control unit Model 211.004/006/016/023/026/061/065/070/076/080/082/083/206/216/223/226/261/265/270/276/280/282/283/606/616 AR07.08-P-7008T
    Model 211.028 AR07.08-P-7008TD

4 Remove cable duct seal (2)    
5 Lift right wiring harness (3), disconnect electrical connector (6) and move right wiring harness (3) to one side IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe routing of electrical cables.  
6 Lift left wiring harness (5) and move control unit box blower motor (M2/2) out of fuse and relay box (F1) until electrical connector on control unit box blower motor (M2/2) is accessible IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe routing of electrical cables.  
7 Unplug electrical connector from control unit box blower motor (M2/2) and remove control unit box blower motor (M2/2)    
8.1 Lift AIRmatic relay (K67) together with bracket to unclip it from fuse and relay box (F1) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semiactive air suspension)  
9 Remove rear wiring harness (8) from fuse and relay box (F1) and place to one side    
10 Lift center wiring harness (4), disconnect electrical connector (9) and place center wiring harness (4) to one side IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe routing of electrical cables.  
11 Remove bolts (10) IMPORTANT The bolts (10) must remain on the fuse and relay box (F1).  
12 Open tie straps (11)    
13 Detach expansion clip from coolant expansion reservoir (12) and place coolant expansion reservoir (12) with lines still connected to one side    
14 Disconnect electrical connectors from components at top of engine compartment that are connected to left wiring harness (5) IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors depends on the vehicle equipment.  
15 Unclip wiring harness bracket (13)    
16 Detach ground leads from left wiring harness (5) at the ground points    
17 Expose left wiring harness (5) in top of engine compartment    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
18 Lift vehicle on lifting platform.    
19 Remove front left road wheel TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA40.10-P-1001-01A 
20 Remove front section of fender liner in left front fender   AR88.10-P-1310T
21.1 Disconnect front PTS separation point (X26/27) On vehicles with code (220) Parktronic system PTS  
22 Remove tie strap (15)    
23.1 Separate electrical connector (16) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semiactive air suspension)  
24 Unclip plug assembly with bracket (17) from front longitudinal member IMPORTANT To do so, press the retaining tab (arrow) upward and remove the plug assembly with bracket (17) to the side.  
25 Separate electrical connectors (18)    
26.1 Separate electrical connectors (19) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semiactive air suspension)  
27 Lower vehicle on lifting platform    
28 Pull left wiring harness (5) up and out of engine compartment IMPORTANT Pay attention to routing of cables.  
29 Remove fuse and relay box (F1) from engine compartment and guide out all electrical lines IMPORTANT Pay attention to routing of cables.  
30 Remove fuse and relay box (F1)    
31 Install in the reverse order
