REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by body parts being jammed or crushed. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS. AS42.46-Z-0001-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS. Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)  
    IMPORTANT The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:  
    Select menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Deactivate 'SBC' system".  
    Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.  
    STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system  
2.1 Remove brake hose (51) Except model 211.08/09/28/29 AR42.10-P-0013T 
2.2 Detach brake hose (51) from floating brake caliper brake line (6) Model 211.08/09/28/29 AR42.10-P-0013T 
3 Remove brake pads   AR42.10-P-1600T 
4.1 Detach electrical feed line of brake pad contact sensor (S10/1, S10/2) from brake caliper (31a) Except model 211.08/09/28/29  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1003-10H 
4.2 Undo screw (36) on bracket and remove bracket Model 211.08/09/28/29  
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  The bracket must abut the brake caliper (31a).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1009-04A 
5.1 Undo bolt (31c) of guide pin Except model 211.08/09/28/29  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1004-10H 
5.2 Remove caps (4), unscrew guide pins and remove brake caliper (31a) Model 211.08/09/28/29  
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace the guide bolts.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1004-10H 
6 Unscrew bolts (35) and remove brake caliper support (31n) If necessary or when replacing the brake caliper (31a)  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1001-10H 
7 Install in the reverse order    
8.1 Bleed brake system with STAR DIAGNOSIS Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) AR42.10-P-0012R 
    IMPORTANT When performing the bleeding operation always observe the instructions in the document "Bleeding brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS".  
    IMPORTANT The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:  
    Select menu item "Initial startup after repair"/"Exchanging brake calipers".  
    Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.  
8.2 Bleed brake system Vehicles with Adaptive Brake (ABR) AR42.10-P-0010T
