Remove/install headlamp unit - AR82.10-P-4730TA

MODEL 211.0 /2 /6 When removing the left or right front lamp unit

REMOVING Remove    
1.1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key from EIS control module On vehicles with code (614) bi-xenon headlamp unit or with code (615a) bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated cornering lamps
IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless go: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off. Remove the transmitter key from the vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (min. 2 m).
 
2 Open engine hood (12) IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
3 Remove front segment from fender liner of front fender (10)   AR88.10-P-1310T
4 Loosen screw (2), slide terminal strip (3) toward front and remove    
5.1 Detach front PTS separation point (X26/27) On vehicles with code (220a) Parktronic system (PTS).  
6 Remove bolts (1)    
7 Unscrew bolt (4)    
8 Unscrew bolts (5)    
9 Pull out front bumper (6) towards the front    
10 Tape front bumper (6) and front fender (10) in the transition area to the left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) using the appropriate adhesive tape IMPORTANT Thus, damage to the paint on the front bumper (6) and to the front fender (10) can be avoided when taking out the left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2).  
11.1 Remove bolt (7) In vehicles with code (600a) headlamp cleaning system  
12 Remove bolts (8)    
13 Disconnect electrical connectors from the rear of the left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)    
14 Pull front bumper (6) at the bumper extension (11) towards the front and take out left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) towards the front    
INSTALLING Install     
15 Pull front bumper (6) at the bumper extension (11) towards the front and insert left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)    
16 Connect electrical connectors to the rear of the left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)    
17 Screw in bolts (8)    
18.1 Screw in bolt (7) In vehicles with code (600a) headlamp cleaning system  
19 Remove adhesive tape from front bumper (6) and front fender (10)    
20 Insert front bumper (6) from the side into the bracket (9) IMPORTANT Ensure proper seating of front bumper (6) in the bracket (9).  
21 Screw in bolts (5)    
22 Screw in bolts (1)    
23.1 Connect front PTS separation point (X26/27) On vehicles with code (220a) Parktronic system (PTS).  
24 Install terminal strip (3) and tighten bolt (2)    
25 Screw in bolt (4) IMPORTANT Tighten bolt (4) so that bumper extension (11) can still be moved.  
26 Adjust transition (arrow A) between bumper extension (11) and engine hood (12) using the adjusting nut (13) IMPORTANT The bumper extension (11) and the closed engine hood (12) should have the same height at the transition.  
27 Align bumper extension (11) between headlamps of left front lamp unit (E1) or headlamps of right front lamp unit (E2) and tighten bolt (4) IMPORTANT The joints (arrow) between the headlamps of the left front lamp unit (E1) or the headlamps of the right front lamp unit (E2) and the bumper extension (11) have to have the same width.  
28 Install front segment on fender liner of front fender (10)   AR88.10-P-1310T
29 Close engine hood (12) IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
30 Check adjustment of left front lamp unit (E1), right front lamp unit (E2), left front fog lamp (E5/1), and right fog lamp (E5/2), adjust if necessary    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Check and correct headlamp adjustment   AP82.10-P-8260T
