Power tilting/sliding roof (SR), function - GF77.20-P-0001SX
MODEL 221.0 /1 with CODE (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof up to Model Year 8
MODEL 216.3 up to Model Year 8
The tilting/sliding roof (SR) offers the following features:
- Open or close tilting roof
- Open or close sliding roof
Operation is by means of the roof switch (N70s1) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70)
The drive is accomplished by the roof system drive unit (M12).
Manual actuation
Actuation is accomplished only as long as the roof switch is actuated (1st notch).
Automatic actuation
Momentarily actuate the roof switch beyond the 1st notch. Actuate until the end position is reached.
Rain closing feature
(not
When opened the sliding roof is automatically moved to the pop-up position when the rain/light sensor (B38/2) detects moisture on the windshield.
Position measurement
The signals from the roof system Hall sensor 1 (M12b1) and roof system Hall sensor 2 (M12b2) are read in and evaluated by the overhead control panel control unit for determination of the position.
Obstruction protection
During the automatic closing operation, the excess force limiter (indirect obstruction sensor) is active. If pinching of an object is recognized, the drive unit reverses direction. During manual closing, motion of the tilting/sliding roof is stopped immediately after pinching is recognized.
Lockup recognition
If the signals from the Hall sensors are not present, even though an adjustment request is present, the drive unit is switched off by the overhead control panel control unit. During automatic closing, direction is reversed for 0.3 s.
A temperature protection switch in the roof motor (M12m1) switches off in the event of an overload.
Synchronizing
The SR must be normalized for the automatic functions and the obstruction sensor.
To normalize, open SR with roof switch up to the mechanical stop and continue to actuate approx. 0.6 s in the opening direction. The overhead control panel control unit recognizes a lock-up of the roof system drive unit and sets the position counter to "zero".
In the event of both Hall sensors failure, the tilting/sliding roof (SR) can still be closed in increments.
The comfort functions are additional control possibilities allowing central opening and closing together with the windows from one control point.
- comfort closing/opening via:
- Recirculated air function
- Transmitter key (A8/1)
- comfort closing with:
- Keyless Go (KG) (on vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go)
The comfort functions are described in the comfort feature (CF)
