	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. 1	Detach ground line(s) at battery(ies)	Turn key in electronic ignition switch EIS into position "0". Key cannot be withdrawn. Vehicles with Keyless-Go code 889: Switch off engine, remove Keyless Go cards from the vehicle and keep outside the range of the transmitter.

2	Remove cover from fuse box (8)
3	Disconnect electrical plug socket (4)
4	Detach ME Control unit electrical plug sockets (5, 6, 7) at ME control unit (N3/10)	Open locking bar.
5.1	Remove firewall (1)	Model 230 Installation:  Install rubber strips (2) at firewall (1).
6	Unclip wiring harness (3) from fuse box (8) and splash wall.	Place wiring harness (3) onto engine.
7	Disconnect refrigerant compressor connector (A9x1) at refrigerant compressor (A9)
8.1	Disconnect ground line (9/1) to body	Vehicles without Active Body Control (Code 487) only.
8.2	Disconnect ground line (9) to tandem pump	Vehicles with Active Body Control (Code 487).
9	Open terminal block terminal 30 (X4/37)	Remove heat shield and protective cap for this purpose. Location of terminal block terminal 30 (X4/37): Right front transmission tunnel.
10	Dismount electrical line (10) and electrical line (11) from terminal block for terminal 30 (X4/37)
11	Disconnect automated manual transmission connector (X22/20)	By removing heat shield (arrow) and turning bayonet connection for pilot bushing 90° to the left.	AR27.10-P-0500-01A

12	Dismount transmission ground (W49) at rear engine mount
13	Install in the reverse order
14	Read out fault memory and erase if required	Stored fault entries which may be caused by disconnecting cables or by simulation during removal and installation or inspection operations, must be erased from the fault memory after work is completed.
	Connect up STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
