General
The user has a facility for managing his SMS messages (e.g. reading or deleting) in the form of the Short Message Service (SMS) application. For this, the SMS messages previously received on the mobile phone as well as the new SMS messages are transmitted to the audio control unit.
Function
The UPCI [UHI] (Universal Cell phone Interface) control unit (N123/1) recognizes when the mobile phone has received a new SMS and sends it to be displayed on the audio control unit display via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
The audio control unit sorts the received and transmitted SMS messages into the lists "read", "unread" and "sent", according to their status. The user can also delete any SMS messages no longer required at any time.
The user can also compose his/her own SMS messages and send them via the mobile phone.
The parameters for sending SMS messages, such as the service provider no. or the memory time, are supplied by the audio control unit itself. If no parameters are stored, the parameters of the particular mobile phone are used.
If a fault occurs, e.g. mobile phone network not available or the respective mobile phone is not plugged in, this is signaled to the user by a corresponding error message on the display of the audio control unit.
With model 463.249/271 it is only possible to write SMS messages via the mobile phone itself.
