Remove/install dashboard lower section on driver side - AR68.10-P-1505TX

DANGER Risk of injury  during testing and repair operations related to pyrotechnical components Do not expose pyrotechnical components to temperatures above 100°C or 212.
Disconnect current supply when working on such components.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Move steering wheel to stop at top    
2 Switch on ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
3 Disconnect battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003TX
4 Remove left cover below instrument panel   AR68.10-P-1500TX 
5 Remove paneling on center console (2)   AR68.20-P-5169TX 
6 Remove trim piece (3) from instrument panel   AR68.10-P-1180TX 
7 Press trim ring (4) with claw-type wrench and EZS control unit (N73) toward front out of instrument panel bottom section (1) SPECIAL TOOL Claw-type wrench for rosette on ignition/starter switch Fig 4
8 Unclip left cover (5) from instrument panel using assembly wedge SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Figure
9 Unhook cable from release handle (6)    
10 Remove bolts (7)    
11 Remove bolt (8)    
12 Unlock electrical connectors (10) from driver kneebag squib (R12/25) and disconnect Model 219.3 as of 6/1/06 with code 494 (US version)  
13 Remove screw/bolts (11) Model 219.3 as of 6/1/06 with code 494 (US version)  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, kneebag to strut *BA91.60-P-1005-01G 
14 Unhook instrument panel bottom section (1) from front center console (9) and pull toward rear until electrical connectors are accessible    
15 Unlock electrical connectors from rotary light switch (S1) and disconnect    
16 Unlock electrical connector from in-car temperature sensor (B10/4) and disconnect    
17 Remove interior fuse box (F34) from instrument panel bottom section (1) and lay down to side with lines connected    
18 Remove dashboard bottom section (1)    
19 Install in the reverse order    
20 Transfer driver kneebag Model 219.3 as of 6/1/06 with code 494 (US version)
When replacing dashboard lower section (1).

21 Carry out function check
