Remove/install fuse and relay box in engine compartment, left front - AR54.15-P-1257TX

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1.1 Remove air filter housing Engine 272.964 AR09.10-P-1150TS
2.1 Partly remove seal (2) in engine compartment Engine 272.964  
3.1 Detach electrical connectors (3, 4, 5) Engine 272.964  
4.1 Expose wiring harness on right (6.1) up to fuse and relay box (1) Engine 272.964  
5 Remove and install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box, left front. 219.3 up to 31.05.06 AR54.21-P-1260TX 
219.3 as from 01.06.06 AR54.21-P-1260TM 
6.1 Remove injection system control unit Engine 113.967 AR07.08-P-7008TY
7 Remove ESP, SPS [PML] and BAS control unit   AR42.45-P-0820TX
8.1 Remove AIRmatic relay (K67) from fuse and relay box (1) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semi-active air suspension)  
9 Unclip holder with relay (7) upwards from fuse and relay box (1)    
10 Remove rear wiring harness (8) from fuse and relay box (1) and place to one side    
11 Lift center wiring harness (9), detach electrical connector (10) and place center wiring harness (9) to one side INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the center wiring harness (9) is correctly routed.  
12.1 Lift right wiring harness (6.2), detach electrical connector (11) and move right wiring harness (6.2) to one side Engine 113.967
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the right wiring harness (6.2) is correctly routed.
 
13 Disconnect electrical connector (13)    
14 Disconnect electrical connector (14)    
15 Detach ground lines to ground (electronics) (W15/3)    
16 Unclip wiring harness bracket (15)    
17 Detach expansion clip (16) from coolant expansion reservoir (17) and place coolant expansion reservoir (17) with lines still connected to one side DANGER Do not damage hoses, as otherwise coolant may leak out.  
18 Detach ground lines to ground (left front, at lamp unit) (W9)    
19 Disconnect electrical connector (18)    
20 Disconnect electrical connector (19)    
21.1 Remove radiator trim On vehicles with code (219) Distronic (DTR) AR88.40-P-4001TX
22.1 Detach electrical connector (20) to DTR controller unit (A89) and expose wiring harness On vehicles with code (219) Distronic (DTR)  
23 Detach electrical connector (21) to left front lamp unit (E1)    
24.1 Remove front section of fender liner in left front fender For vehicles with code (220) Parktronic system PTS or with code (489) Airmatic (semi-active air suspension) AR88.10-P-1310TX
25.1 Disconnect front PTS separation point (X26/27) On vehicles with code (220) Parktronic system PTS  
26.1 Disconnect electrical connectors (22, 23, 24, 25) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semi- active air suspension)  
27.1 Remove tie strap (26) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semi- active air suspension)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace tie straps (26).
 
28.1 Unclip plug assembly with bracket (27) from front longitudinal member On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semi- active air suspension)
IMPORTANT To do so push connector package with holder (27) (arrow) upwards, swivel it and route it downwards through the longitudinal member and then remove connector package with holder (27) at the side.
 
29.1 Detach left front axle damping valve unit connector (Y51x1) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semi- active air suspension)  
30.1 Disconnect electrical connector (28) On vehicles with code (489) Airmatic (semi- active air suspension)  
31.1 Remove holder (29) from fuse and relay box (1) Engine 113.967  
32 Remove cable duct seal (30)    
33 Remove bolts (31) IMPORTANT Screws (31) remain on the fuse and relay box (1).  
34 Remove tie strap (32) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace tie straps (32).  
35 Expose left wiring harness (12) IMPORTANT Pay attention to routing of cables.  
36 Remove fuse and relay box (1) from engine compartment routing all electrical lines through it IMPORTANT Pay attention to routing of cables.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check seal of support (33) for signs of damage and to see if it is correctly seated.
 
37 Remove fuse and relay box (1)    
38 Install in the reverse order
