Shifting Function
Transmission 716.6xx
The floor shift (11) is no longer bolted on the body side but is connected to the transmission by a coupling arm (12) and supported on the body tunnel so that it can move via a swivel lever (13). This prevents transmission of vibrations and noise to the floor shift and to the tunnel by means of rubber mounts on the coupling rod, shift rod and the two swivel levers. The selector movement is transmitted from the shift lever to the inner shift module (10) in the transmission by the selector cable (1) and the shift movement is transmitted by the shift rod (2). Both transmission components are maintenance-free.
This type of transmission has the following advantages:
- Precise and easy to operate shift.
- No transmission of component movements to the shift lever and tunnel.
- The swivel lever (13) and rubber mounts allow the engine/transmission joint to move in all directions.
Shift Process
- Selecting Shift Gate
The transverse movement of the shift lever to the central shift shaft (16) which is rotated about its own axis as a result is transmitted by the selector cable (1). - Shifting Gear
The longitudinal movement of the shift lever to the central shift shaft (16) which is moved in the longitudinal direction as a result is transmitted by the shift rod (2).The shift lever handle must be pulled upwards to overcome the reverse gear lock-out.
