Multiple-Cone Synchronization, Function

Triple Cone Synchronization In 1st/2nd Gear:

Triple cone synchronization is used on transmission variants SG-S 370 and SG-S 400.

An additional conical ring (3) between the friction ring (4) and the synchronizer ring (6) and a friction lining (5) attached to the friction ring (4) are the essential components. The friction surfaces are increased here by having the synchronizer rings stepped inside each other, causing the loose gears (1 and 2) to be braked or accelerated more quickly or with less force applied.

Double Cone Synchronization

Double-cone synchronization is used for synchronization on transmission variants SG-S 250 and SG-S 270 in gears 1 to 4 and on transmission variants SG-S 370 and SG-S 400 for gears 3 and 4. The friction lining attached to the friction ring (4) is no longer used.
