MODIFICATION NOTES

29.5.06 "Disconnect/connect battery ground line" removed    
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
1 Remove cover below instrument panel   AR68.10-P-1520P 
2 Open glove box compartment door    
3 Remove cover on right side of instrument panel (3) IMPORTANT Do not break off front retaining tabs.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Figure
4 Press circlip of socket (6) toward inside    
5 Unclip socket (6) for glove compartment (1)    
6 Remove CD changer With code 819 6-disk CD changer AR82.64-P-7507P
7 Remove bolts (8)    
8 Remove center console cover (10)   AR68.20-P-2350Q 
9 Remove center console (4) Model 209 without code P98 Black Series AR68.20-P-2000Q 
    Model 209 with code P98 Black Series AR68.20-P-2000QBS 
10.1 Loosen COMMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) up to 31.5.04
with code 352 COMMAND operating and display system, with code 498 Japanese version
AR82.85-P-7472Q
    as of 1.6.04
with code 498 Japanese version, with code 527 COMMAND APS (with navigation), with code 530 COMMAND APS USA (with navigation)
IMPORTANT Position COMMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) so that bolts on instrument panel lower section on passenger side are accessible.
IMPORTANT Do not unplug connectors.

10.2 Loosen radio up to 31.5.04
with code 756 Radio MB Audio 10 CD with VK/RDS

IMPORTANT Position radio so that bolts on instrument panel lower section on passenger side (2) are accessible.
IMPORTANT Do not unplug connectors.

11 Remove bolts (9)    
12 Partially pull out instrument panel lower section on passenger side (2) with glove compartment (1)    
13 Detach coupling at glove compartment illumination with switch (E13/2)    
14.1 Disconnect connector for ATA glove compartment switch With code 551 Anti-theft alarm system (ATA)  
14.2 Disconnect connector from glove compartment CL actuator Model 209.4  
14.3 Detach handset transmitter and receiver connector (X39/5) and antenna connection (7) With code 854 MB cell phone  
15 Remove instrument panel lower section (2) on passenger side with glove compartment (1). IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that paneling and footwell (5) is seated correctly.  
16 Install in the reverse order
