Attach end cover - AR35.31-P-0550-28CF

REPAIR MATERIALS

  1. Clean sealing surface (b) on end cover (B) and rear axle center assembly housing.

    IMPORTANT The sealing surface (b) on the end cover (B) and rear axle center assembly housing must be free from oil and grease.

  2. Apply Loctite 5970 sealing compound around circumference of sealing surface (arrow).

    IMPORTANT The sealing compound must be applied only to the specified sealing surfaces (arrow) with a bead of 2.0 mm (±0.5 mm). The sealing compound must be processed within 10 minutes. The silicone bead must not be spread. Only the approved sealing compound may be used.

    IMPORTANT Install new flange bolts.

  3. Position the end cover (54) and secure in position with the aid of flange bolts.

    IMPORTANT The end cover (54) must not slip.

  4. Fit remaining flange bolts and tighten TORQUE SPECIFICATION , 1st stage
  5. Mark screw flange in relation to rear axle center assembly housing (a).
  6. Put markings (b) on rear axle center assembly housing offset by 45°.
  7. Tighten flange bolts with 45° tightening angle, 2nd stage. Markings (a) and (b) must then match.

IMPORTANT The flange bolts can also be tightened using a commercially available angle tester.
