Removal & Installation

  1. Deactivate SBC brake system. See DEACTIVATING & ACTIVATING SENSOTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL (SBC) SYSTEM (WITH STAR DIAGNOSIS COMPACT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM)  or DEACTIVATING & ACTIVATING SENSOTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL (SBC) SYSTEM (WITHOUT STAR DIAGNOSIS COMPACT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM)  under SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels.
  3. NOTE: Brake fluid reservoir must not drain completely. When removing and installing brake line at brake hose, ensure not to twist bracket (arrows). Use an open wrench to counterhold at two flats on brake hose.
  4. Unscrew brake line (5) from brake hose (51) and seal off line connections. See Fig 1 .
  5. Unscrew brake hose from caliper.
  6. Install disassembled components in reverse order and tighten to torque specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  . Activate SBC brake system. See DEACTIVATING & ACTIVATING SENSOTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL (SBC) SYSTEM (WITH STAR DIAGNOSIS COMPACT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM)  or DEACTIVATING & ACTIVATING SENSOTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL (SBC) SYSTEM (WITHOUT STAR DIAGNOSIS COMPACT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM)  under SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.
