Bleeding Rear Brake Calipers

NOTE: Remove rear wheels if there is poor access to bleed screw.

Remove dust caps from bleed screws.
Connect bleed bottle hose to bleed screw of right rear brake caliper (3). See Figure .

NOTE: DO NOT start engine!

Reaching through open driver's window, insert ignition key and turn to (Z2). Switch off ignition (Z0), wait 1-5 seconds (t2), and switch ignition on again (Z2). The ignition remains switched on for duration of procedure.
Rotate left rear wheel in running direction (n) for at least 3 seconds (t3) (1-2 revolutions) and stop wheel. Left front wheel must be rotated 1-2 revolutions within 60 seconds (t5) of stopping left rear wheel. Stop lamps will flash on and off 3 times to confirm successful activation of brake bleeding routine. Front brake pads are applied repeatedly.
NOTE: Steps 5 and 6 must be carried out within 40 seconds of stop lamps flashing 3 times.
Turn on brake bleeding equipment. Apply a pressure of 29-44 psi (2-3 bar) to SBC brake system.

NOTE: There is extremely high pressure in the bleed bottle hose, secure or hold it to prevent it from slipping off. The high pressure pump only starts to deliver after 40 seconds have elapsed since flashing of stop lamps. The bleed screw must be opened within 40 seconds, otherwise brake bleeding routine is terminated.

Open bleed screw of right rear brake caliper. If procedure is not carried out within specified time or a problem is encountered, repeat procedure starting in step 3 .
150 seconds (t6) after stop lamp has flashed on and off 3 times (step 4), close bleed screw of right rear brake caliper (3) and install dust cap. Sequence of brake bleeding routine ends automatically. In the event of problems, the brake bleeding routine can be terminated prematurely by closing the bleed screw. It is absolutely essential to carry out steps 11 - 12 before repeating brake bleeding routine.
Repeat steps 1 - 7 for left rear caliper.
Switch off brake bleeding equipment and remove from brake fluid expansion reservoir.
Reinstall wheels.
To end brake bleeding routine, enter vehicle and switch off ignition (Z0), after 1 second (t7) press down firmly on brake pedal, a slight pressure pulse must be noticeable at brake pedal. This checks bleed status of left front brake circuit. Regardless of the outcome of this step, continue to next step.
Release brake pedal, after 1 second (t7) press brake pedal firmly, until brake pedal is pushed back by approximately 4-10 mm by SBC system. This checks bleed status of right front brake circuit. If brake pedal was pulsed or pushed back as described in this and previous step, procedure is complete. If brake pedal was not pulsed or pushed back as in this and previous step, repeat BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM (WITHOUT STAR DIAGNOSIS COMPACT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM) a maximum of once, otherwise, bleed SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS compact diagnosis system. Disconnect battery charger.
Start engine, press brake pedal 5-10 times, switch off engine and switch ignition to ON position (DO NOT start engine). If bleeding is successful no fault message appears in the instrument cluster, if fault message appears in instrument cluster, repeat BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM (WITHOUT STAR DIAGNOSIS COMPACT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM) a maximum of once. If fault message is erased, bleeding process was successful. If fault message continues to appear in instrument cluster, bleed SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS compact diagnosis system. Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir and correct if necessary.
