REMOVING Removal     
1 Remove front seats

2 Connect quiescent current retention device   *WH58.30-Z-1012-09A 
DANGER Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged leadacid batteries No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

3 Disconnect ground line of battery

4.1 Remove radio

4.2 Remove operating and display unit with control module IMPORTANT In vehicles with COMAND operating and display system COMAND (Code 352a).

5 Remove center console

6.1 Remove rear air conditioning unit. IMPORTANT In vehicles with  air conditioning in rear (code 582).

7 Remove rear seat cushion

8 Remove rear seat backrest

9.1 Remove seat adjustment mechanism on rear seat

10 Remove rear passenger compartment floor covering

11 Remove front floor covering (left)

12 Remove front floor covering (right)

13 Open right cable ducts    
14 Open left wiring ducts    
15 Remove trim on right C-pillar

16 Slacken rear shelf at right side IMPORTANT Raise so that wiring harness can be routed.  
17 Remove side paneling on left and right in trunk

18.1 Remove CD player with changer IMPORTANT In vehicles with (code 819) CD changer in trunk (A2/6), slacken and put aside.

19 Remove and install SAM control module with fuse and relay box, left front. IMPORTANT Do not remove completely, only do so far enough to enable an additional cable to be pulled through from driver's footwell and connected to fuse and relay box.

INSTALLING Install     
20.1 Retrofit fiber optic wiring harness IMPORTANT Vehicles without  sound system (code 810) and without  CD changer (code 819). AN82.70-P-0002-01ME 
  Cover optical waveguide NOTESDo not kink or stretch D2B fiber optic.
