Parking Brake Pedal Assembly

NOTE: Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Pre-tension automatic cable slack adjuster by turning detent eccentric bolt (g) to the left using appropriate size Allen wrench (approximately half a turn) and simultaneously push backwards in slot until spring loaded detent eccentric (b) engages with raised section (h) in hold down clip (d). See Figure .
  3. Remove cover of parking brake pedal assembly (71). See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove parking brake indicator switch (S12).
  5. Remove brake cable (85) from tensioning shackle at parking brake pedal (75) and unclip from holding lug using Snap Release Tool (043).
  6. WARNING: DO NOT loosen Torx bolts on back of parking brake pedal assembly otherwise parking brake pedal assembly will be damaged beyond repair.
  7. Remove parking brake pedal assembly upper bolt (72). Loosen lower bolt (72) and remove parking brake pedal assembly from lower bolt.
  8. Remove bracket (77a) and then remove control cable from release lever (77). Unclip control cable from pedal assembly using tool (010). See Fig 2 . Remove parking brake pedal.
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check version of pedal assembly. See PEDAL ASSEMBLY VERSION  . Adjust parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
