Brake Caliper (Rear, Fixed & Floating): Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels.
- Disconnect brake hose (51) at brake line (5). See Fig 1 or Fig 2 .
- Disconnect brake hose from brake caliper (31b). If removing a floating brake caliper, go to step 7 . If removing a fixed brake caliper, go to next step.
- Unplug brake pad contact sensor connector (8), if installed.
- Unscrew left rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/3), if installed.
- Remove brake pads and brake caliper bolts (35) from fixed caliper and remove brake caliper.
- Remove floating caliper together with brake pads by removing brake caliper bolts (35) and pulling brake caliper out and down (arrow) from wheel carrier.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Replace brake pad contact sensor self-locking bolt if removed. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Bleed hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING PROCEDURE under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM. Ensure dash light goes out.
NOTE:
Seal off line connections immediately with plugs. Do not allow brake fluid supply reservoir to run completely empty.
