Bleeding Procedure

NOTE: Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels.
  2. Connect pressure bleeder. See Fig 1 . Bleeding pressure should be set at 29 psi (2 bar). Following bleeding sequence, see BLEEDING SEQUENCE  , connect bleed bottle and open bleed screws on calipers allowing fluid to flow out until it is free of bubbles. With assistance of a helper, higher pressure bleeding can be achieved by pressing brake pedal.
  3. After bleeding each caliper, remove bleed bottle and tighten bleed screw to torque specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Check fluid level in master cylinder, top off fluid level as necessary.
  4. Actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in brake system. If brake pedal travel is too long:
    • Start engine.
    • Connect bleed bottle and open right rear bleed screw while pumping brake pedal. Hold brake pedal for approximately 3 seconds, and slowly release brake pedal (perform operation approximately 5 times).
