Remove/install seat belt with emergency tensioning retractor - AR91.40-P-0630Q

MODIFICATION NOTES

3.3.04 Disconnect/connect ground line from battery removed
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by release of spring in the automatic belt retractor is released. Never disassemble automatic belt retractors. AS91.00-Z-0002-01A 
DANGER Risk of injury.  Injuries may result when performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag unit with deployment face up, do not subject to temperatures above 100°C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A

1 Switch off ignition, remove transmitter key from the EIS control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless go, press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off. Remove the transmitter key from the vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).  
2.1 Remove bolt (7) With USA version code 494a passenger side  
3.1 Remove cover (8) on belt end fitting With USA version code 494a passenger side  
4.1 Unscrew bolt (9) With USA version code 494a passenger side
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Mount anti-twist lock (11) with the wide lug (arrow) downwards. The cable duct points backwards during assembly.
NOTESInstallation:  If the anti-twist lock (11) is assembled incorrectly the belt tension sensor (B48/3) may be damaged.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt on belt end fitting *BA91.40-P-1001-01A 
5 Remove rear passenger compartment side trim panel Model 209.3 AR68.30-P-4780Q
6.1 Separate electrical connector (10) With USA version code 494a passenger side  
7 Insert seat belt (1) through seat belt extender (2)    
8 Loosen bolt (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt on front automatic belt retractor *BA91.40-P-1004-01A 
9 Remove bolts (4)    
10 Unlock and detach coupling on driver ETR [GUS] squib (R12/1), passenger ETR [GUS] squib (R12/2)    
11 Unscrew bolt (3).    
12 Remove bracket (5) IMPORTANT If necessary undo cable duct.  
13 Remove automatic belt retractor (6) IMPORTANT If new automatic belt retractor (6) is installed, the defective automatic belt retractor (6) must be disposed of properly and rendered unusable: ↓  
Make emergency belt tensioner units unusable AR91.40-P-0611A 
REFER TO FORMS Notes on disposing of airbag and emergency tensioning retractor units   OS91.00-P-0001-01A 
14 Install in the reverse order    
15 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT Stored faults which may be caused by removal, test work, removed lines or a simulation, must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A

16 Carry out seat belt function test
