WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK350 and 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The steering column module (N80) has the following operations:
- Reads in the button group of left button group on the multifunction steering wheel (S110)
- Reads in the button group of right button group on the multifunction steering wheel (S111)
- Reads in the steering wheel gear shifter MINUS (S110/1)
- Reads in the steering wheel gear shifter POSITIVE (S111/1)
- Scans the combination switch (S4)
- Scans the steering column adjustment switch (S59)
- Reads in the cruise control pushbutton switch (S40/4)
- Scans the voice control system switch (S93/2)
- Scans and initializes the steering angle sensor (N49)
The steering column module (N80) is connected to the interior CAN and engine compartment CAN, however is not used as an interface (gateway) between the two bus systems.
All the button operations on the multifunction steering wheel as well as switch operations are read in by the steering column module (N80) and placed on the corresponding CAN.
The direction of travel movements are detected by the steering angle sensor (N49) and placed on the engine compartment CAN via the steering column module (N80). These signals are thus available to the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Distronic (DTR).
