Disassemble 

1. 1 -  Disassemble transmission casing.

   Transmission 716.6 (passenger car) except code 424. See DISASSEMBLE/ASSEMBLE TRANSMISSION HOUSING .

2. 2 -  Disassembling countershaft. See Fig 1.
   CAUTION: Never mix clutch bodies and sliders from different assemblies. Note correlation and installation position carefully to avoid mixing up. See DISASSEMBLING COUNTERSHAFT .

   Use Puller (000 589 65 33 00). See Figure.

   Use Jaw (000 589 87 33 00). See Figure.

   Use Pliers for outer locking ring. See Figure.

Inspection 

1. 3 -  Check all parts for damage or wear.

Assemble 

1. 4 -  Oil all parts prior to installation.
   CAUTION: Never mix clutch bodies and sliders from different assemblies. Note correlation and installation position carefully to avoid mixing up. See Assemble Countershaft DISASSEMBLING COUNTERSHAFT .
2. 5 -  Assemble countershaft.

   Use Sleeve (716 589 02 33 00). See Figure.

   Use Sleeve (168 589 00 14 00). See Figure.

   Use Pliers for external circlip. See Figure.

   Use Feeler gauge. See Figure.

   Replace circlips and synchronizer assemblies.

3. 6 -  Assemble transmission housing.

   Transmission 716.6 (passenger car) except code 424. See DISASSEMBLE/ASSEMBLE TRANSMISSION HOUSING .
