INSPECT Check
DANGER Risk of injury  in the form of trapping or crushing, or even severing of limbs, if caught in windshield wiper mechanism Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
NOTES When working on raised driver-side wiper arm (1) or passenger-side wiper arm (2), do not allow them to fall onto the windshield, otherwise damage may occur.
1 Move driver-side (1) and front passenger side (2) wiper arms out of parked position and place in reverse position IMPORTANT To do this, turn ignition on (circuit 15 or circuit 15R) and turn wiper switch to position "2". As soon as the driver-side and passenger-side wiper arms are near the reversing position, switch ignition off and turn wiper switch back to position "0".
The reverse position of the driver-side wiper arm corresponds to the distance between the driver-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (A):
model 140 approx. 60 mm,
model 170 approx. 50 mm,
model 171.4 approx. 50 mm,
model 203 approx. 35 mm.
The reverse position of the passenger-side wiper arm corresponds to the distance between the passenger-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (B):
model 170 approx. 330 mm,
model 203 approx. 350 mm,
for models 140 and 171.4, the distance between the passenger-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (B) results from the distance between the driver-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (A).
Measured from the upper wiper blade end of the driver-side wiper blade (1) and the passenger-side wiper blade (2) to the inside of the driver-side A-pillar.

2 Remove wiper blades IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions
3 Measure angle of incidence of driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) in relation to windshield, note down and compare with test and adjustment values IMPORTANT Change relevant sign of test and adjustment values for right-hand drive vehicles. AR82.30-P-6000-01GC
Angle of incidence of wiper arm on driver-side (1) in reverse position *BE82.30-P-1001-01E

4.1 Adjust angle of incidence of driver-side wiper arm (1) or passenger-side wiper arm (2) in parked position In the event that the test values deviate from the tolerance range in reverse position or in parked position and reverse position: AR82.30-P-6100-01T
IMPORTANT Distort driver-side wiper arm (1) or front passenger side wiper arm (2) by at least the value of the tolerance deviation in reverse position.
Change relevant sign of test and adjustment values for right-hand drive vehicles.
Angle of incidence of wiper arm on driver-side (1) in parked position *BE82.30-P-1003-01E

4.2 Adjusting wiper system Only if the test values of the driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) deviate from the tolerance range in parked position.
IMPORTANT Change relevant sign of test and adjustment values for right-hand drive vehicles.
