If the radio frequency DAS control module (N54/3) (model 170)  or the radio frequency/infrared DAS control module (N54/4) (models 129/140)  receives a valid radio frequency "lock" signal (models 129/140 also infrared radio frequency signal)  the vehicle is locked, if it was unlocked previously.

The locking operation is confirmed by the turn signals flashing three times at a frequency of 1.5 Hz. The ATA is activated.

Mechanical locking:

The driver's door and trunk lid can be locked mechanically via a lock.

The central locking system is not activated via the lock switches. The ATA is not activated.

USA ONLYJAPAN ONLY

The lock switches installed in the driver's door lock and the trunk lid lock are checked by the radio frequency DAS control module (N54/3) (model 170)  or the radio frequency/infrared DAS control module (N54/4) (models 129/140)  . The central locking and the ATA are activated. The turn signals are not actuated. The central locking function with the lock switches can be enabled with version coding.

Convenience closing feature (models 129, 140):

When the radio frequency/infrared DAS control module (N54/4) receives IR pulses following the valid lock signal, the convenience closing feature is activated as long as the remote control is actuated.

USA ONLYJAPAN ONLY

The convenience closing feature can be activated with the lock switches via version programming.
