IMPORTANT Depending on equipment installed in the vehicle one of the following control units is installed:

The term audio control unit is used for this in the function description.

Function requirements

General

The user can select and operate the particular components of the mobile phone with the appropriate voice commands via the voice control system (VCS [SBS]).

The system can be controlled by voice by spelling out or entering complete words.

Operating instructions

The VCS [SBS] is activated by pulling the VCS [SBS] switch toward the driver. An acoustic signal is emitted after activation has taken place. It is deactivated by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch.

Voice control function sequence

The actuation of the VCS [SBS] switch is read in by the steering column tube module and sent to the audio control unit via the interior CAN. This then transmits the activation command via MOST to the voice control system control unit, which activates the integrated voice recognition system. This is announced to the user through an acoustic signal (beep). At the same time, the hands-free system microphone group is activated and the audio system's radio components are muted to ensure that the user input is not distorted in any way.

The signals of the hands-free system microphone group are read in by the voice control system control unit, digitized and sent via MOST to the audio control unit.

After activation of the VCS [SBS] via the VCS [SBS] switch, it is possible for the user to operate the mobile phone using the following voice commands:

With model 463.247/254/303/340 or with model 463.248/270/341 without code (E66) Sound system (Harman/Kardon) the voice output is provided by the audio control unit via direct lines to the speakers.

With model 463.249/271 or with model 463.248/270/341 with code (E66) Sound system (Harman/Kardon) the voice output of the input prompts is provided by the audio control unit via the sound system amplifier to the speakers.
