Location
The voice control system control unit is located in the left driver footwell.
Task
The voice control system control unit helps to break up joined-up spoken commands. These commands can be entered by any speaker, without pre-training, and by a particular speaker (as names specified and programmed by the user). The voice control system control unit also comes with a voice output providing information for the user, e.g. input confirmation or help functions.
Noise reduction
If the voice control system is active, the microphone signals from the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) can have the vehicle's driving noise removed using a noise reduction mode. This clearly improves the hands-free speech quality under high driving noise levels.
Echo compensation
Because some of the speech signals are fed back during voice output through the hands-free system microphone group, the person holding the call hears his own voice as an annoying echo. To help suppress this echo, the voice control system control unit is given a high-performance echo compensation, which acts in both transmission directions.
