	Lethal injuries  are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform	Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1	Remove front road wheel
	Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary		AP40.10-P-4050Z
2	Empty the suspension strut (40) in question using STAR DIAGNOSIS	Diagnosis system STAR DIAGNOSIS	*WH58.30-Z-1048-13A
3	Unscrew pressure line connection (40a)	Residual pressure in strut up to 3.5 bar. If the residual pressure valve (a) is damaged, replace the suspension strut (40). Plug the pressure line with blind plug for the duration of the repair operations. If pressure line connections or pressure lines are damaged:↓

4	Unscrew nuts (40b) on front end	Installation:  Fit nuts (40b) and tighten after filling the suspension strut with the vehicle in the ready to drive condition.	*BA32.25-P-1001-04B
5	Disconnect front axle electrical distributor connector, major assembly compartment (X62/6) and right front axle electrical distributor connector, major assembly compartment (X62/7)	Connectors of damper valve unit and rpm sensor. To disconnect, press in the spring (arrow).
6	Detach suspension strut (40) at the top of the C-bracket (40e)		*BA32.25-P-1010-04B
7	Remove spring strut (40) downwards towards the side
		If replacing or reinstalling the spring struts (40), check condition of spring struts and if necessary: ↓	AR32.25-P-1017-02I
		Dispose of suspension strut. Installation:  When installing, first tighten the nuts at the top (40b).	OS32.25-P-0122-01I

8.1	Detach brake line bracket at C-bracket (40e) and C-bracket (40e) on lower transverse control arm (4)	If necessary.
		Check boot on ball joint in lower transverse control arm (4) for damage, if necessary: ↓
		Replace lower transverse control arm Installation:  After installation the bolts (40f) must terminate at least flush with the C-bracket (40e) or be slightly recessed in it.	AR33.20-P-0510IW

9	Install in the reverse order
10	Fill suspension struts (40) in question using STAR DIAGNOSIS	Diagnosis system STAR DIAGNOSIS Fill to 5 bar. The wheels must not touch the ground while pressurizing because the air bellows in the spring strut (40) will be destroyed if pressurized with the suspension compressed.	*WH58.30-Z-1048-13A
