MODIFICATION NOTES

14.10.04 Fill coolant using vacuum method added Step 12  
  Drain    
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

1 Open engine hood Model 171 AR88.40-P-1000V
    Model 203 AR88.40-P-1000P
    Model 209 AR88.40-P-1000Q
2.1 Disconnect battery ground cable Only when draining coolant at crankcase, right.  
    IMPORTANT Do not connect quiescent current retention device.

3 Open cooling system cap (1) at coolant expansion reservoir (2) IMPORTANT Turn cooling system cap(1) 1/2 one revolution anti-clockwise, release pressure, then unscrew cooling system cap (1).  
4 Remove lower engine compartment paneling Model 171 AR61.20-P-1105V
    Models 203, 209 AR61.20-P-1105P
  Drain coolant from radiator     
5 Slide collector siphon hose onto fitting at radiator (3).    
6 Open the radiator drain plug (4) and drain the coolant IMPORTANT Catch coolant with suitable vessel.  
7 Tighten radiator drain plug (4) and detach collector siphon hose from fitting at radiator (3).    
  Drain coolant at crankcase     
8 Loosen crankcase drain plug (5) and push collector siphon hose onto crankcase drain plug (5).    
9 Open the crankcase screw plug (5) and drain the coolant IMPORTANT Catch coolant with suitable vessel.  
10 Pull collector siphon hose off crankcase drain plug (5) and tighten crankcase drain plug (5). TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA20.00-P-1001-02B 
11 Lower vehicle    
  Filling     
12 Pour in coolant and bleed cooling system IMPORTANT Reuse the clean coolant. AR20.00-P-1142-04A
