REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1.1 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and buffer basic data from driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) in STAR DIAGNOSIS. When replacing the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).  
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  transfer buffered basic data to the new front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system *WH58.30-Z-1048-13A 
DANGER Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities.  Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
2.1 Set wiper arms to vertical position Engine 111

2.2 Remove water collector IMPORTANT Only for engine 642  
    Model 203 AR83.25-P-1402P
    Model 209 AR83.25-P-1402Q
3.1 Unscrew wiper linkage (5) from wiper hinge (arrow), move over the bracket (6) and position outside the working area IMPORTANT Only for engine 642  
4 Disconnect battery ground cable    
    Model 203 AR54.10-P-0003P 
    Model 209 AR54.10-P-0003Q 
NOTES Notes on battery All models AH54.10-P-0001-01A
5.1 Unlock and remove cover (1) on module housing (4) IMPORTANTInstallation: Check gasket for damage

5.2 Unscrew bolts (7) and remove cover (1) of module box (4) IMPORTANTInstallation: Check gasket for damage

6.1 Remove injection system control unit Engine 111

6.2 Remove front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) from guide. Engine 271  
7 Remove bolts (3)    
8 Release and remove upper connectors IMPORTANTRemoval:  Disconnect cables from control unit and fuse and relay box AR54.18-P-1261-01P 
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Connect cables on control unit and fuse and relay box AR54.18-P-1261-02P 
9 Expose wiring harness.    
10 Remove front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) upwards. IMPORTANT Only pull out far enough for the connectors to be accessible.  
11 Release and remove lower connectors IMPORTANTRemoval:  Disconnect cables from control unit and fuse and relay box AR54.18-P-1261-01P 
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Connect cables on control unit and fuse and relay box AR54.18-P-1261-02P 
12 Remove front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). IMPORTANT When replacing, the fuse and relay assignment must be inspected.  
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Fuse assignment, as-built configuration Model 203 GF54.15-P-1256P
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Fuse assignment, as-built configuration Models 209.316/342/343/361/365/375/376 GF54.15-P-1256Q
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Relay assignment, as-built configuration Model 203, 209.316/342/343/361/365/375/376 GF54.15-P-1257P
13 Install in the reverse order
