1	Turn ignition key to position "0"	In order to prevent error codes.
2	Disconnect ground cable of battery		AR54.10-P-0003A
3	Remove center console		AR68.20-P-2000GH
4.1	Remove sound deadener (2)	Up to 31.8.01.
4.2	Lift up front part of sound deadener (2)	As of 1.9.01.
5.1	Remove ventilation duct (3)	Only up to 31.8.01: 2 screws on rear ventilation duct.
6	Detach connector (5) from emergency tensioning retractor, airbag and side airbag control module (N2/2)
7	Unscrew hexagon socket head screws (4) for the emergency tensioning retractor, airbag and side airbag control module (N2/2) from the transmission tunnel	Installation:  Observe attachment of the ground for the restraint systems control module (W26) at the left rear screw of the control module.
8	Remove emergency tensioning retractor, airbag and side airbag control module (N2/2)	Installation:  The arrow on the housing must point in the direction of travel. For models 163.154/172 within the chassis numbers A145273 up to A150476 ↓

9	Install in the reverse order
10	Program and parameterize new emergency tensioning retractor, airbag and side airbag control module (N2/2)	See Diagnosis Manual, Body.
