MODEL 208, 210 with CODE (352a) COMAND operating and display system with CODE (317) GSM portable cellular telephone (D2B)
The telephone system can be operated as follows:
- directly at the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) or
- via the multifunction steering wheel in combination with the multifunction display in the instrument cluster (A1) or
- via voice control (with code 813b)
The audio source is automatically muted during a telephone call. There are different telephone versions (e.g. portable cellular telephone, permanently installed telephone, version in combination with TELE AID ). The portable cellular telephone version (code 317) is described in detail in the following.
The radio telephone signals are transmitted and received by the CTEL and GPS roof antenna (A2/49) telephone component. When the telephone is in the ready status the display of the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) shows the reception field strength in 5 stages.
With all versions transmission of the control and audio signals (e.g. loudspeaker signals when the hands-free system is activated), is accomplished via the digital data bus D2B.. The portable cellular telephone (A34/6) therefore requires an interface to the D2B -the D2B portable cellular telephone interface (A59/1) .
The COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3n1) has the following telephone functions:
- Automatic blocking of the telephone card after entering the wrong P ersonal I dentification N umber (PIN) three times in succession.
- An emergency call can also be performed without PIN or with missing telephone card.
- Direct selection of the telephone number with the shaft encoder or number keypad, display of name of person called (when number entered is known).
- Speed call: Selection of first 10 memory locations with only one button, selection of all other memory locations by entering the 3-digit memory location number.
- Memory location sorting according to:
→ Memory location number or
→ name (alpha-numerical) or
→ the 10 numbers last selected.
