Removing and installing evaporator housing - AR83.30-P-5200E

MODEL 202 with CODE (580) Air conditioning or Tempmatic for USA with CODE (581a) Air conditioning (automatic)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Removal, installation     
DANGER Risk of explosion  from welding or brazing work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant. Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or naked flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Do not carry out repair work on the circuit of the air conditioning system unless the system is drained. 1 Drain air conditioning (recycle) IMPORTANTInstallation:  evacuate, charge, check for leakage.  
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes from scalding with hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Pour in coolant.  
3 Remove cover on left and right air inlets   AR83.25-P-1400E 
4 Remove air inlet   AR83.25-P-1401E 
5 Remove water collector up to 31.08.95 AR83.25-P-1402E 
    as of 1.9.95 AR83.25-P-1402K 
6 Remove expansion valve IMPORTANT Plug openings. AR83.30-P-5520E 
N Pull off heater feed and return hoses, loosen 3 hose clamps and tighten IMPORTANT Plug openings.  
8 Remove instrument panel IMPORTANT Before installing the instrument panel, check for proper functioning. AR68.10-P-1000E
9 Remove center console    
10 Remove floor covering on left and right    
11 Remove passenger airbag Vehicles with passenger airbag (code 291). AR91.60-P-0680E
12 Remove jacket tube   ra46001247700x
13 Remove wiring duct (25), unscrew 2 screws (26) IMPORTANT When installing wiring duct (25) pay attention to mount (arrow) on jacket tube holder.  
14 Remove holder (30), unscrew screws (31)    
15 Remove transverse pipe (20) IMPORTANT For this purpose unscrew 6 screws (23) and 3 hex. nuts (22).  
16 Disconnect electrical leads from ground point W1    
17 Open cable straps (27)    
18 Remove rear air ducts on left and right    
19 Disconnect vacuum lines at cockpit separation point (35)    
20 Remove ground strap (40) on right    
21 Separate blower motor connector    
22 Remove air ducts to side nozzles on left and right    
23 Remove AC housing    
24 Install in opposite order
