A potentiometer is located in each of the outside rearview mirror adjustment motors (M21/6m1 and M21/6m2) or (M21/7m1 and M21/7m2). These potentiometers are connected to the associated door control module. The beginning and end of the two potentiometers are connected in parallel between ground and a positive voltage. The voltage at the potentiometer tap is dependent on the mirror position. This voltage is read in by the door control module.
